The quantity of items proposed to us is so important that we can not buy everything ! We have therefore set up the consignment option that allows us to present allways more pieces to collectors.

The principle is simple:

The owner retains ownership of the item which he put under consignment at "Le Hussard". When the item is sold, the owner is paid after a predetermined delay. To put something under consignment you can contact us by phone at 04 74 82 54 20, by regular mail or by fax. Ask for one of our specialists:

All have excellent knowledge of objects but each has a larger area of expertise on an object type or period of history ... All toghether they form a committee of expertise.

We can move if necessary, but you can also come at “Le Hussard” if it suits you. In all cases, each piece is visually inspected and its value is determined. A full inventory is made and a copy of it is given to you as warranty.



Consignment terms :

Margin :
Le Hussard is taking a margin of approximatively 40% on the selling price. After adreement with the owner this margin may be higher to meet the costs of marketing and/or restoration. Effectively, if it is the owner wish, a quote for a restoration job can be made. The owner will pay the work after the selling or if he takes the item back.

Payment :
The payment of consignments are made by check or wire transfer 45 days after the end of the month during wich the sale have been made.

Owner's warranties :

Price :
It is defined by mutual agreement. This selling price is calculated according to the market and in order of mutual interest.

Information :
Regularly the owner receive informations by letter indicating wich pieces have been sold and are paid.

Property :
The Items are the property of theirs owners until a buyer acquired them. From then, "Le Hussard" is liable for the amount of the item that will be paid 45 days after the conclusion of the sale.

Return :
For business efficacy, the owner agrees to assign the object at least 6 consecutive months.

Owner's obligations :

Consignement period :
The objects are placed on consignement for a maximum period of one year. This time passed, we can ask the owner to reexamine the price(s), or to take back the item(s).

"Le Hussard" expertise :
Le Hussard reserves the right to withdraw of marketing, or deny the marketing, of any object that reveal hidden defects that were not recorded at moments the first examen.
The owner agrees that “Le Hussard” make the necessary investigations to a perfect knowledge of the intrinsic qualities of the object.

Le Hussard" reserves :
Le Hussard is not in the obligation, even moral, to accept an object that he could not defend both at the level of its price than its intrinsic qualities, or who simply does not suits us.

The objects often require cleaning, repair or extensive research to be sold. In this case, the price may be higher to cover the cost.
